Our story.....
Long Creek Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard established in 2004. Our vineyard was planted on our family farm rooted in the quaint but lovely village of Long Creek, Illinois. (Located 3 miles east of Decatur on US Route 36)
Draped on the hillside of this farm are Chambourcin, Steuben, Vidal Blanc, La Crosse and Vignoles. In 2006 we planted a variety of Northern Italian grapes including Nebbiolo, Barbera and Sangiovese, as well as the French varieties of Syrah and Viognier. Over the next few years we also intend to plant northern European varieties of Riesling, Gruner Vetliner and Pinot St. Laurent as well as Corvina, yet another northern Italian variety.

Wine is a captivating beverage unlike all others, where else can you ponder and truly concentrate on each sip you take? Wine makes us appreciate the finer things in life; family, the company of good friends, great food and travel. Our journey with wine making began in the spring of 2000 when we purchased an old Victorian home which included an arbor we have been told dated back to prohibition. At that point wine making became a passion in our lives. We had a vision of someday planting a vineyard and starting a winery……….our journey has only just begun.
We believe great wines do not come from just anywhere. Site location played a major role in the placement of our vineyard. Giving the plants the attention they deserve is hard work, but something we truly enjoy. We feel great wines can only be made with great fruit. We are dedicated to the passion we have for this fruit and hope to produce the best possible expression of the varieties we are producing.
We are proud to say that with our limited harvest in 2005 of Chambourcin, Vidal Blanc and La Crosse, we produced four wines. These four wines were adorned with 8 medals in 2006 including a “Gold” for our Chambourcin at the Indy International Wine Competition, four silver medals and three bronze medals.
